Hi! My name is Ashlee. I am a TEFL/TESOL certified ESL Tutor from Ontario, Canada. I am working on a project exploring the French we use in English. I’ve had an interest in this facet of the English language for some time, but even more so since I started studying French again. It truly is amazing how many words in English have been adopted from French; many of them are just considered to be English words now, but the etymology of these words is fascinating. Another motivation for this ongoing endeavour is how it has helped my Francophone students connect more deeply with the English language. Focusing on the connections between English and French and comparing and contrasting words and phrases has been very beneficial for my French-speaking students.
